Readiness for major FMS roll out across an organisation
Challenge
- Our client had recently transitioned their operations from contractor run to an owner operator model, and wanted to adopt a standardised Fleet Management Systems (FMS) across their five operations; all of which were at varying levels of FMS maturity and technology deployment
- Our team were engaged to develop and roll out a standardised operating model to accompany the standard technology of MineStar FMS, one which would drive the business to:
- Utilise leading technology and equipment to enhance the mining process
- Adopt standard systems and processes across all operations to increase efficiency and mobility
- Prepare for transition to fully autonomous mining
Solution
- Gained an understanding of the operational requirements for each of the five operations
- Developed a common FMS operating model which focussed on strategy, roles & responsibilities, key activities, key relationships, consistent & aligned KPI’s and a consistent approach to change management
- Matched current site process with the new process to define gaps that our team then closed
- Provided a cascading document suite, including Vision, Guiding Principles, Business Process, RACI, Process Maps and Execution Manual, to provide each level of the business with the appropriate amount of detail required for implementation
Results
- Positive alignment of the business on the future state FMS Operating Model across all sites
- Completion of a detailed supporting documentation suite articulating the FMS Operating Model
- Provided operational process support to the sites as they initiated use Minestar, and worked with users to transition from existing practices to the new standardised operating model
